The PN-E702 from Sharp – versatile, sleek and stylish

Hamburg, 22.02.2012

The new model of the PN-E monitor series brings an impressive combination of astounding picture quality, versatile applications and modern design. The full-array LED backlight combines with the full HD resolution to provide brilliant colours and an up to 40% reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional LC displays of this size. Despite its low weight, the device is extremely sturdy, and with its diagonal size of 177 centimetres (70 inches) it cuts a good figure wherever it is placed.

The PN-E 702 sets new standards for indoor digital signage applications. The special attractions of this versatile unit include not only its size, picture quality and performance but also, in particular, its extremely low energy consumption. The PN-E702 is designed for non-stop 24/7 operation and can therefore remain on round the clock. To keep the electricity bill within reasonable limits despite these long operating times, Sharp has equipped the display with its high-efficiency LED backlight (full array). This backlight uses hundreds of LEDs located directly behind the LC display to provide uniform light distribution and therefore outstanding brightness. At the same time this system ensures that current consumption is well below average.

The brilliant picture of the new monitor is due to a number of features, in particular Sharp's UV2A. This system uses a process by which the liquid crystals in LCD panels can be precisely positioned by means of UV light. Precise alignment of the molecules in a given direction is decisive for high dynamic contrast and an increased aperture ratio. The increased contrast and higher aperture ratio result in an extremely high picture quality that is particularly vivid and true to life.

The attractive dimensions of the PN-E702 – which is just ten centimetres thin at its thickest point – mean that the monitor hardly sticks out at all when mounted on a wall. As a result, the display with its flat design not only fits perfectly in offices and conference rooms but also provides an attractive option for displaying information, advertisements and video content in shops and public places. Despite its sturdy, hard-wearing and long-lasting construction, the unit weighs only 50 kilograms. Consequently, the comparatively lightweight monitor is very easily positioned in portrait or landscape format.

The PN-E702 displays can optionally be fitted with safety glass. In particular for installations in public places, such as shopping centres, the additional glass covers protect the displays against damage.

As a further highlight for the display segment, in 2012 Sharp will be adding the 80-inch (203‑centimetre) PN-E802 to its existing PN-E monitor series. With identical product features and an even bigger diagonal screen size, this display has even more space for information, presentations and video content.

The PN-E 702 is available in the shops now. The market launch of the PN-E802 is scheduled for the second quarter of 2012.
