Sharp adds its weight to the Cortado Cloud Printing Alliance
‘New Age’ of mobile working gains popularity as users embrace cloud computing for effortless on-the-move printing
Hamburg, 26.10.2011
Sharp has joined the growing
Cortado Printing Alliance in a move which will make its MFPs available
wirelessly to smartphone and tablet users, through the free Cortado Workplace
App. The solution works independently of mobile devices, printers and
file-types, and is not PC-dependent.
More than 184,000
mobile workers - an increase of 84% in the last seven months - now regularly
use Cortado Workplace, which is available for iOS, BlackBerry, Android and
Symbian platforms.
“This is great news
for mobile workers,” said Peter Plested, Divisional
Manager, European Solutions Business Centre, Sharp. “It will
give our customers the ability to print whatever they want, whenever and
wherever they need it, without caring about printer drivers, portable storage
devices or anything else which inhibits mobile working.”
To benefit from
Cortado Workplace users simply download a free App, available from all main App
stores, to their smartphone or tablet PC. Each user gets 2GB of free online
storage in their own private ‘cloud workspace’, in which they can store
documents.
Once stored, the
documents can be printed on supported printers and MFPs from any accessible
Wi-Fi network, including thousands of models (Cortado hosts more than 5,000
printer drivers) from Sharp and ten other printer manufacturers.
“We’re very pleased
to welcome Sharp into the Printing Alliance,” said Frank Hoffmann, Director
Strategic Relationships, Cortado. “Every time an internationally recognised
brand becomes a member we see a dramatic growth in the user base. We are
witnessing the dawn of a new age of printing: a new, more convenient way of
working.”
